The City of Marshfield is seeking a Civil Engineer I or II to join our team.

The Civil Engineer I designs, surveys, stakes and performs construction inspection for a variety of construction projects undertaken by the City. Work includes street and utility projects along with storm water management projects. Position works closely with Engineering Division staff, contractors and the Street Division during construction, serving as the on-site engineer or resident project representative. Requires strong interpersonal skills, customer service mentality, and problem-solving ability utilized for both internal and external customers.

A Civil Engineer II is an advanced professional engineering position involving major responsibility for the design and construction of public works projects, including street, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and drainage improvements. With the Street Division, the Civil Engineer will work closely with contractors and serve as an on-site engineer. Requires strong interpersonal skills, customer service mentality, and problem-solving ability utilized for both internal and external customers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CIVIL ENGINEER I

Education - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.

Experience - Experience with CADD and Civil Engineering design software, preferably, but not limited to MicroStation and Open Road Designer.

Certifications/licenses - Minimum Required: Passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE) and /or certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in the state of Wisconsin or the ability to obtain within (6) six months from the beginning of employment required. Valid Wisconsin Driver’s license is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CIVIL ENGINEER II

Education - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.

Experience - Minimum of four years’ experience in designing civil engineering projects.

Certification/licenses - Minimum Required: Professional Engineer registration by the State of Wisconsin or ability to obtain within six months of the date of employment is required. Valid WI Driver’s license required. Preferred / Optional: Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) registration by the State of Wisconsin is desirable.
