The City of Marshfield is seeking a Firefighter / Paramedic to join the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Team. The primary function of a Firefighter / Paramedic is to protect the community from disaster situations, including structure fires, and promote an environment of public safety within the City of Marshfield. This position involves emergency medical services (EMS), fire prevention and inspection activities, equipment and station maintenance, public education, and training.

The Firefighter / Paramedic safely responds to the incident scene wearing assigned personal protective clothing, acts under the direction of the ranking officer with or without a partner, and gains access to the incident area. Under the direct supervision of a company officer, perform such duties and activities as may be required by the City of Marshfield codes and ordinances, Wisconsin State Statues, and the policies, procedures, and protocols of the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department as defined and adopted by this department and referenced in NFPA 1001 – Standard for Professional Firefighter Qualifications.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Associate degree in Fire Science, Fire Technology, Fire-Medic, Paramedicine, or similar program OR a minimum of 60 college-level credits in a related field, preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Minimum Required

  • Possession of valid driver’s license
  • State of Wisconsin certified Firefighter I required, Firefighter II preferred
  • State of Wisconsin licensure as a Paramedic OR an EMT-Basic currently enrolled in Paramedic school. 
  • Valid CPAT exam at time of application (CPAT is valid if within one year of date taken)

Preferred/Optional

  • State of Wisconsin or IFSAC Accredited certifications in Driver/Operator- Pumper
  • State of Wisconsin or IFSAC Accredited certifications in Driver/Operator-Aerial
  • Hazardous Materials Technician
