Crossing Guards

The City of Marshfield is seeking Adult School Crossing Guards to join our team. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors and is focused on making a difference in their community. The Marshfield School Crossing Guard program was established to provide enhanced pedestrian/bicycle safety to school age children on their way to and from school. The program is administered by the Marshfield Police Department. Uniforms are provided and no prior experience is needed.
 
Crossing Guards work 180 days a year when school is in session. This is a Monday – Friday position (August – June). Crossing guards work approximately 7:15am – 8:00am and 2:45pm – 3:05pm. Guards are compensated on the basis of 1.5 hours of pay for each crossing session, amounting to three hours per school day.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Escorts children across designated school crossing zones and instructs children how to safely cross the street properly
• Assures the safety of children, communicates effectively with children, parents and the general public.
• Reports unsafe traffic conditions and /or safety hazards in school crossing zones.
• Interacts on a friendly and courteous basis with the general public
• Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Willingness to work in all types of weather conditions
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• Valid Driver’s License
