As a Senior City Planner, you'll be at the heart of everything that makes Marshfield a great place to live, work, and play. Essential job functions include:

  • Guiding the planning team in development review, updating land use plans and policies, and driving housing and economic development programs.
  • Serving as a department point of contact for planning and zoning applications including zoning code and map amendments, Comprehensive Plan amendments, conditional use permits, municipal code amendments, and annexations requests.
  • Preparing memos and presentations to Plan Commission, Common Council, and other organizations on planning and zoning related matters.
  • Supporting teams in the creation and implementation of developer agreements, incentive packages, economic development policies and City plans for neighborhoods districts, corridors, and Tax Increment Districts (TIDs).

We are thrilled to have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our team—below are the key job requirements to ensure a success in this dynamic role:

  • EDUCATION - Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture, architecture, public administration, or closely related field.
  • EXPERIENCE - Minimum four years increasingly responsible in professional planning or economic development required; an equivalent combination of experience and/or education may be considered.
  • CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES - Valid driver’s license. American Institute of Certified Planners preferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES - Creative problem solving, leadership, critical thinking, adaptability, collaboration skills, experience in technical report preparation, data collection, and software applications; ability to make effective presentations to committees / groups.
