๐Ÿ’ผ About the Role

The Finance/Accounting Manager plays a critical leadership role within the Marshfield School Districtโ€™s Business Services Department. This is more than just a numbers job โ€” it's an opportunity to make a real impact by guiding financial strategy, ensuring compliance, mentoring staff, and helping drive operational excellence.

As the key financial steward for the district, youโ€™ll oversee daily accounting operations, manage a team, generate detailed reports, and ensure that all financial obligations and audits are completed accurately and on time.

๐Ÿงพ Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support accounting staff and day-to-day financial operations

  • Maintain and review the general ledger and financial reports

  • Manage budget reporting, federal funding claims, and state-mandated financial filings

  • Ensure internal controls and compliance with School Board policies and accounting principles

  • Coordinate with auditors and CPA firms for smooth year-end audits

  • Prepare cash flow projections and assist with borrowing activities

  • Promote continuous improvement in business office procedures and staff performance

  • Support school-level financial practices (activity funds, fees, procurement cards, etc.)

๐Ÿ“˜ What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/MBA preferred)

  • At least 3 years of experience in a business office (public sector or education a plus)

  • Strong knowledge of governmental accounting and WUFAR coding preferred

  • Supervisory experience and a proven ability to lead and develop teams

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and automated financial systems

  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly

  • A growth mindset, flexibility, and strong organizational skills
