POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Food Service Program Director, the Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning dishes at a professional level that meets sanitation standards, ensuring the kitchen has a steady supply of clean equipment. This person loads and unloads the dishwasher as needed. Assistance with meal preparation and serving is also required. Our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility must be exhibited in all aspects of work within the YMCA.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have ability to follow oral & written instructions
- Willingness to be trained in operating kitchen equipment
- Be able to have and maintain positive relationships with all customers from point of contact
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Previous cleaning experience preferred
- Washes all wares including pots, plans, flatware, and glasses, by hand or using dishwashers.
- Correctly places and stores clean equipment, dishes, and utensils in assigned storage areas.
- Stocks serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and other assigned areas with necessary dishes and utensils.
- Cleans trash receptacles with water or steam.
- Moves dishwashing supplies and equipment from storage to work area by hand or using hand trucks.
- May assist in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking and/or serving, as directed.
- Ensures work areas remain safe, clean, and orderly, adhering to all company, local, and state guidelines regarding health, safety, and sanitation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
